M/S Tranen is a classic tour boat from 1931 that sails throughout the summer, especially on many sightseeing cruises and round trips.
There is a nostalgic atmosphere on board, evoking memories of school trips where one eagerly set out on explorations side by side. On Tranen today, guests are invited to wonderful experiences.
Tranen is the only electric boat in the Hjejle fleet and has become very popular for events and private parties, gliding almost silently through the water without the noise of a former diesel engine.
Since 1931
Tranen was originally named Scholle and was built for freight transport in Germany. Towards the end of World War II, the boat sank and remained at the bottom of Hamburg harbor for several months.
1946
The hull of a former German vessel lay in the harbour at Kolby Kaas on Samsø and was now named Edith. Hjejleselskabet purchased the boat for DKK 10,000, had it refurbished, and renamed it Tranen.
1960
In the early 1960s, Tranen was rebuilt. The boat was upgraded with a new enclosed cabin with large windows, upholstered seats, and new outdoor teak benches.
1971
Tranen became the only Hjejle boat to ever touch the bottom of Silkeborg Harbour. It happened on a cold winter’s day, when the boat was weighed down by slushy snow.
2022
After the 2021 season came to an end, Tranen was set for another round of modernisation. Hjejleselskabet places great emphasis on staying up to date and incorporating sustainability into its day-to-day operations. This is why Tranen has become the first boat in the fleet to be electrified and now sails entirely on electric power. Tranen has also received a completely new lounge, with the forward-facing benches replaced by tables and upholstered benches.

Perhaps the boat will take a round trip without stops while you enjoy refreshments on board. Maybe you’ll dock at one of the small landing stages along the lakes so everyone can disembark for a brisk walk.
