M/S Turisten is a charming excursion boat from 1903, operating throughout the summer on numerous sightseeing cruises as well as smaller private charters, where closeness and a cosy atmosphere are at the heart of the experience.
Turisten calls Ry Harbor home and is an experienced older lady on the highly scenic tours among kingfishers and herons.
Turisten is furnished with four-person tables, and as the only boat in the fleet, she features red benches inside the cozy salon. For those who prefer fresh air and the sound of lapping waves, Turisten’s foredeck invites you to settle in and enjoy.
Since 1903
1903
On April 25th, Turisten arrived in Silkeborg, back then named Maagen. The local press and several hundred spectators were waiting for the new ship.
1936
Maagen made her final voyage as a steamship on 23 August 1936, before being converted into a motorboat.
1975
After a challenging 1974 season marked by poor summer weather and low visitor numbers, Hjejleselskabet’s board decided to sell Maagen. In 1976, the boat moved to Ry and was renamed Turisten.
2008
In 2008, Hjejleselskabet acquired Ry Turistbåde, bringing Turisten ‘home’ to the company once again. However, the boat continues to operate from Ry to this day.

Perhaps the boat will take a round trip without stops while you enjoy refreshments on board. Maybe you’ll dock at one of the small landing stages along the lakes so everyone can disembark for a brisk walk. Or perhaps we can together create a different program based on your wishes and our experience. There are many possibilities when you set sail with a Hjejle boat from the dock.
